As part of Margaret Thatcher’s Youth Training Scheme of the 1980’s, Jon procured a lighting apprenticeship with Spring Street Theatre in Hull, England at age 16. While working in this capacity, he was invited to be part of Hull Truck Theatre Company, where he traveled extensively around the UK.
Jon next accepted a position as Deputy Technician at Lillian Baylis Theatre, Sadler’s Wells in London's West End. He was soon promoted to Chief Electrician, where he worked with such companies as London City Ballet, Welsh National Opera, Stomp, and Mikhail Baryshnikov‘s White Oaks Project.
After 5 years at Sadler’s Wells, Jon combined work with a desire to travel, accepting the position of Head Sound and Light Technician aboard a cruise ship. After 6 years at sea, Jon married his wife, who was his shipmate, and moved to terra ferma.
The next 18 years found Jon steeply entrenched in the corporate world, donning such titles as Lighting Specialist, Technical Lighting Director, and National Lighting Designer. In 2017, Jon and his team launched DMR studios.
